MACCRAY Independent School District #2180 is proposing a $38.8 million bond referendum on February 7, 2017 to finance additions and renovations to the Clara City attendance center and the closure of the elementary attendance centers in Raymond and Maynard.
The proposed 112,910 square foot elementary classroom addition to the existing junior/senior high school in Clara City would replace the existing elementary attendance centers in Raymond and Maynard. The estimated cost of the elementary addition, including site improvements is $27,825,200. The district would either sell or demolish the two elementary school buildings but plans to continue use of the athletic fields at both sites. The construction of athletic support facilities, including concession stands, restrooms and locker rooms are planned at both elementary sites. The estimated cost of the demolition and support facility construction at both elementary sites is $1,850,000.
Other proposed improvements to the Clara City attendance center include an addition to house a 500 seat auditorium with related space, deferred maintenance projects, security upgrades and an assortment of minor renovations throughout the building. The estimated cost of these improvements is $7,891,711.
The estimated cost of all the proposed projects is $37,566,911. Other estimated costs include $1,018,500 for capitalized interest and $214,589 in bond issuance costs. The projects would be scheduled for completion in the 2017 - 2019 calendar years.
